Colorbond Profile Fencing and Colours

Fencing manufacturers have traditionally only offered a selected range of colour options and unless you’re willing to do a DIY paint job, there’s not much of a choice. With Colorbond, the durable 5-layer steel design is finished off with a powder-coated application in a wide range of colours. With contemporary, classic, bold, and subtle shades there is something to suit any property style. In addition, there are steel profiles to choose from with different size ribs that further customize the look.

Now that you’ve decided to go with a Colorbond fence, here are the colours and profiles you may want to consider in designing the perfect outer frame for your home.

Profiles

The profiles available to you may depend on the area of installation. Trimclad is a traditional design style for steel panels with different size heights and widths available. The fencing looks slightly different on each side once installed according to the panel’s wave-like ribs.

The second commonly available type is metline which has more ribs and looks identical on both sides of the fence. It does come in limited panel width and height options compared to trimclad panels. Both designs are available in a choice of colours, which we’ll discover next.

Colours

Whether you’re fencing a professional medical centre, a beach house, farm-style home, or a modern build, there is a colour to suit your style and the feel you want to create for the property. Keep in mind that the colour you choose for your Colorbond fence is a long-term commitment, so make sure it coordinates with the other colours of your home’s exterior. You may also want to consider how quickly the fence will show dirt if it is being installed in an area that is exposed to a lot of dust, mud, or other dirt.

Colorbonds neutral and subtle colours range from light beiges reminiscent of soft sea sand to greys that bring a touch of professionalism without being harsh on the eye. The tones deepen to darker grey that hides dirt better and dark brown tones of river sand and elegant jasper. For a luscious appeal that blends with natural greenery, shades vary from gentle and muted pale eucalypt green to a darker wilderness green that is still soft on the eye and ideal for an outdoor relaxation area.

Inspired by the purple-grey hues of stormy skies and mountains, ironstone brings a darker tone with a blue tinge. Monument and woodland grey are two other darker shades in the range that exude modern sophistication, ideal for city properties and contemporary builds.

Colour options also extend to deep bold red (better suited to roofing) as well as deep ocean blue and cottage green. Depending on the setting of the home or commercial property, there may be restrictions regarding the colours allowed for external home fittings, so make sure to check this, especially if you are thinking of going for something that will make your home stand out from the rest.

Colour Technology

Most of the colours in the contemporary and classic colour range are designed with Thermatech® solar reflectance technology.

The technology ensures that less heat is absorbed from the sun by reflecting solar heat off the panels. It, therefore, lowers the material surface temperature compared to any standard steel product.

The specialized technology optimizes the thermal performance of the material without changing the colour appearance. If the fence surrounds a barbecue or outdoor relaxation area, carport, or entry gate, it is important to safeguard that the steel does not further exacerbate heat on hot sunny days.
